Emily Dickinson

Did you know…

…John Lennon was murdered December 8, 1980?

… the computer mouse was developed December 9, 1968?

… Emily Dickinson’s birthday was December 10, 1830? (a fact every poet should have memorized!)

Whenever your blog post idea bank runs dry, consider writing an article that focuses on a historic event, date, or special day.

I wrote a post for the WinePress of Words blog that explains how to tie a news release in with a federal holiday, major sporting event, or other special date.

For fun, I researched each month of the year and discovered several unusual celebrations for each:

January

Prune Breakfast Month

February

African-American History Month

Return Shopping Carts to the Supermarket Month

March

Music in Our Schools Month

April

National Soft Pretzel Month

May

Correct Posture Month

June

National Soul Food Month

July

National Hot Dog Month

August

National Water Quality Month

September

National Piano Month

October

National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Month

National Toilet Tank Repair Month (could these two be related?)

November

National Stamp Collecting Month

December

Read a New Book Month
