How to Get to Your Facebook Page from Your Profile (Tutorial for New Facebook Page Design)

One of my clients contacted me in a panic. Her e-mail says:

Now what is Facebook doing? I used to be able to log in to my personal Facebook profile and drop down the option to Manage Pages so I could easily administer my Pages, but that’s gone now. And they have this new stuff. How can I get to my Manage Pages?

Good question.

As usual, Facebook made wholesale changes to their Page design without notifying us peons in advance. After they made the switch public, they filled us in on most — but not all — of the changes. So I did some sleuthing and discovered an easy way to get to your Page(s).

  1. Log in to your Facebook personal profile.
  2. In the upper righthand corner of your profile, click the “Account” tab.
  3. Click the second link in the list, “Use Facebook as Page.”
  4. A list of all the Pages you administer will pop up.
  5. Do NOT click “Switch.” Yet.
  6. Instead, click the link of the Facebook Page you want to go to. You can either click the Page’s profile image or the name of the page itself.

Voilà! You’re now at your Page.

Now comes the Switch part.

If you want to use Facebook as your Page’s persona, rather than as your personal profile persona, click “Use Facebook As [insert name of your Page].”

For example: I logged into my personal profile as Laura Christianson. But when I post updates to my Blogging Bistro Page, I want my persona to display as “Blogging Bistro.”

So I clicked “Use Facebook As Blogging Bistro.”

The following message popped up:

I can instantly switch back to using Facebook as Laura Christianson (either on my Page or on my personal profile) by re-clicking the “Use Facebook as…” button.

Shortcut for switching to your Page’s persona

Once you’ve tried this feature and get comfortable with it, you can bypass one of the steps above, and immediately switch to using Facebook as your Page’s persona.

  1. Log in to your Facebook personal profile.
  2. In the upper righthand corner of your profile, click the “Account” tab.
  3. Click the second link in the list, “Use Facebook as Page.”
  4. A list of all the Pages you administer will pop up.
  5. Decide which Page you want to “use Facebook as” and click the “Switch” button next to that Page listing.
  6. You will immediately be taken to that Page, where you can post updates, like other Pages, and write comments as your Page’s persona. Nifty!

How can the Use Facebook As... feature help?

You can anonymously connect your personal profile to a business page. When you post as your Page’s persona, you, personally, remain behind the scenes. This is a very helpful feature for Facebook Pages that have multiple administrators. All admins can now post as the Page’s persona.

It may also prevent content duplication issues. People who post identical content (such as links to new blog posts) to their Page and their profile worry about irritating Facebook friends who also are fans of their page. While I haven’t fully tested this feature yet, I’m hopeful that it will solve those duplicate content issues.

If you have discovered other ways to access Pages from your personal profile, please share them, so we can learn together.
