My 5 Favorite Blogs About Social Media

Redwoods at Mount Hermon, California

The students in my Internet Marketing course at the Mount Hermon (CA) Christian Writers Conference asked me to respond on my blog to questions we didn’t have time to cover in class.

One question: What social media blogs do you read regularly?

Here is a list – in no particular order – of the blogs and e-newsletters I read daily and find extremely helpful:

Social Media Examinerhttp://www.socialmediaexaminer.com

How tos, reviews, case studies, and in-depth research about all things social media. I always learn something useful from their posts.

Copybloggerhttp://www.copyblogger.com/

Written by Brian Clark (creator of the Thesis WordPress theme), senior editor and writer extraordinaire Sonia Simone, along with oodles of guest columnists, this blog delivers endless tips for how to improve your copywriting.

TwiTiphttp://www.twitip.com

Owned by “ProBlogger” Darren Rowse and written by dozens of guest contributors (and occasionally, by Darren), this blog is a wealth of information about Twitter. Perfect for newbie tweeters.

Daily Blog Tipshttp://www.dailyblogtips.com/

Always practical and personable, Daniel Scocco eagerly shares what he’s learning about blogging with his large worldwide audience. He posts guest articles every Wednesday.

Seth Godinhttp://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog

Short, pithy, and packed with thought-provoking ideas, Seth’s blog challenges and inspires me (and provides me with tons of great anecdotes that I work into my social media presentations!).

Open Forum by American Express Openhttp://www.openforum.com/

Their guest contributors publish anywhere from 8-20 blog posts per day (which can be overwhelming – I recommend subscribing via e-mail so you can quickly skim the headlines for articles that catch your attention). Posts cover a wide range of topics of interest to entrepreneurs/businesspeople, including many social media articles.

The Publicity Hound’s Tips of the Week (e-newsletter) – http://www.publicityhound.com/

Joan Stewart, aka, The Publicity Hound, promotes her own services and products extensively in her weekly e-newsletter, but I always find a nugget I can use. Joan is also very good at responding personally to e-mails, tweets, and messages. I’ve subscribed to her “tips” for years; her articles give me fantastic ideas for how I can promote my business.

John Kremer’s Book Marketing Tip of the Week (e-newsletter) – http://www.bookmarket.com/

As an author of three books, I’m a long-time subscriber to John’s e-newsletter. Similar to the e-newsletter above, it’s heavily sales-oriented, but it’s organized in a reader-friendly fashion that makes it easy to skim through all the articles. I particularly enjoy John’s newish “Tweets you can use” section, in which he highlights tweets (of other people) that give away info/products of use to authors.
